2010 Arts Workshops for Kids:
Ages 6-8 & 9-11

The 2010 Arts Workshops for Kids have concluded for the year; please check back in February, 2011 for information about next summer's program.

This summer Gage presents eight one-week art workshops where kids can discover and imagine new ways to try out their ideas with art. Each workshop includes two classes: one visual art and one movement art.

Whether you're sketching or painting or moving your feet, discover new ways to express your imagination.

Parents: please save 3:00pm each Friday to see your young artist's achievements!

Fantasy Masks

Kim Newall
Take a walk on the wild side! Make a plaster mold of your face; when it dries add a layer of paper maché, fabric and paint to make your own unique mask. Become any fantasy creature you want — all it takes is your imagination! The fun isn’t over when you complete your mask. Wear your creation during Friday’s drumming perfomance and let your fantasy character really come alive!

Zimbabwe Games
Lora Lue Chiorah-Dye
“If you can talk, you can sing, and if you can walk, you can dance” is a saying from Zimbabwe. Let electrifying African rhythms move your body and soul while learning traditional, interactive movement games from Zimbabwe. Have fun in cooperative play, learning rhythmic steps and movements paired with traditional songs and dance. Wear your fantasy mask while showing off your new moves in the final Friday performance.
