Each quarter, to enrich Seattle's arts discourse, Gage hosts lively lectures with working professional artists and art historians. The public is invited to attend these FREE events.

Join exhibiting artists
Gala Bent,
Chauney Peck and
Matt Sellars as they each present examples of their recent work followed by a panel discussion delving into each artist’s process, inspiration and approach to being a contemporary artist in Seattle.
Bent is a Seattle-based artist who received her MFA from SUNY in Buffalo, NY. She recently exhibited in the Northwest Biennial at the Tacoma Art Museum, at King County’s Gallery 4Culture and was included in a group exhibition at the Catherine Person Gallery.
Peck is a member of SOIL Gallery and has exhibited nationally since receiving her BA in fine art at Evergreen State College. She is a recipient of the Seattle Mayor’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs Purchase Award, the Artist Trust Grant for Artists Projects and was awarded a Jentel Artist Residency in Banner, WY, in 2009.
Sellars received his BFA from Cornish College of the Arts and is represented by Platform Gallery in Seattle. He has exhibited locally and nationally in group and solo exhibitions.

Collage: A Dialog,
with Lisa Buchanan and Robert Yoder

Exhibiting artists Lisa Buchanan and Robert Yoder co-lecture about their artwork, the process and history of collage and the experience of collaborating and curating a two-person show.
Buchanan has exhibited nationally and her art works range from paintings and site specific installations to mixed media and video projects. Currently, she is working with the Deborah Page Project in Austin, Texas and is represented by Davidson Galleries in Seattle where she has a concurring exhibition for the month of October.
Nationally exhibiting artist Yoder received his MFA in fiber arts from the University of Washington. He is a recipient of a Pollack Krasner Foundation Grant, an Artist Trust Fellowship and received a Betty Bowen Special Recognition Award. He was nominated for the Neddy Artist Fellowship in 2001 and 2008 and is represented by Frosch & Portmann, New York and Zurich.

In Search of Messages: A Journey Through Ice Landscapes,
with Anna McKee

Anna McKee began an investigation into glacial landscapes to follow a thread in her work concerned with memory in the land. This inquiry led her to draw ice cores in freezers, hike to Northwest glaciers and travel to Antarctica on a National Science Foundation Artist and Writers Program grant to experience the scale of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet and to witness scientists collecting a two-mile ice core, recovering atmosphere more than 150,000 years old.
McKee is an emerging artist based in Seattle and has exhibited her work locally and in national juried shows. Her studies include an MA in landscape architecture, plus instruction in drawing and painting at Gage, and numerous workshops in printmaking. She is a recipient of an Antarctic Artists and Writers Program grant from the National Science Foundation, the Artist Trust Grant for Artists Projects, and she is currently represented by Francine Seders Gallery.
